I am South African by birth (1958), and spent my early childhood playing on the beach and the mountain in the Cape.

In 1968 I emigrated to the UK with my mother, and completed my schooling in London. The mountains and the sea called, so I chose to go to Edinburgh College of Art where I took a degree in Ceramics.

Teaching qualification (Birmingham), teaching posts in Shropshire , followed by a teaching post at a Harrow sixth form college in North West London.

Marriage and children. Part time teaching in the Further Education system, then more full time teaching. And quite a bit of drawing painting and making in the gaps.

The holidays gave some time to make, but finally having completed a masters, and worked for Edexcel  ( a provider of qualifications) for a while, I jumped ship in my 40's to return to being a maker.

Since then, I have created and run a gallery space in West Harrow on the edges of London, worked at rebuilding a house in the Charente in France, and established my practice as an artist whilst I lived there.

I returned to Britain in 2020 with a scary cancer diagnosis, and with the treatment now behind me, I am once again setting up my studio, this time  in Princes Risborough, in the Chilterns.

I am looking forward to finding out what comes next.
